Collection of Purple Healing Stones

Purple crystals are loved by crystal enthusiasts for jewelry, alternative healing and spiritual pursuits. This is a directory of my articles on the metaphysical and healing properties of purple stones. Each stone is briefly explained below. Visit the link in each section for more information.

General Healing Properties of Purple Crystals

Purple crystals are generally used to treat anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses. Most purple stones are used to treat headaches either by placing them on the head or taken as an elixir, though amethyst may be one of the most well-known stones for this. Many issues related to purple stones are also associated with the third-eye chakra, a concept from Eastern and New-Age spirituality, and the relationship of crystals and this chakra is explained further below.

Third-Eye Chakra Stones

Because purple is associated with the third-eye chakra, these crystals are considered good stones to work with for issues associated with this energy center also known as the sixth chakra.

Technically, indigo is the color of this chakra which is a color between blue and violet. You'll find some of the stones below range from blue to purple and are used in healing third-eye and throat chakra issues, the throat center color being blue.

Blockages in the third-eye chakra are believed to be at the root of some of the health concerns listed above. Stimulating this chakra aids in mysticism, psychic development, astral travel, dream recall, past-life regression and communicating with the spirit realm. Physically, it deals with all types of headaches and disorders of that area.

Amethyst

Amethyst is a variety of quartz that is a favorite in jewelry, tumbled stones an geodes. It's used for headaches, insomnia, anxiety and depression and to bring peace to the atmosphere. It's also used to induce a deep state of meditation usually by placing it on the third eye.

Charoite

Charoite has a beautiful marble-like quality with swirls of different shades of purple, white, gray and black. It's a stone to help a person accept who they are warts and all. Included in this article is a self-acceptance meditation to do with charoite.

Iolite

Iolite ranges from blue to purple. It's a major third-eye stone used especially by those seeking visions. It's believed that because of the optic qualities of iolite it may have been used as the fabled compass of the Vikings.

Lepidolite

Lepidolite is a purple mica associated with assisting in smooth transitions and calming emotions of a person, relationship or atmosphere. It comes in different colors but purple is popular in healing. It also helps detect energy blockages in the body so would be a good stone for energy workers.

Sugilite

Sugilite ranges from pink to purple and has an intense color, at times almost marble-like in appearance much like charoite. Empaths and sensitives may find this stone helpful in shielding themselves from being bombarded by psychic impressions of others. It's also a stone to help open the heart chakra to experience unconditional love.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite has a regal appearance in either royal blue or purple or a combination of the two. This crystal is used for throat, third-eye and communication issues, especially communication with other realms. It's also considered a deeply spiritual stone.

Other Purple Gems and Minerals

There are other gems and minerals that have a purple variety including sapphire, jasper, spinel, and agate. These all have the general healing qualities that fall under the purview of purple stones and if you can't find them you may wish to substitute one of the above listed stones in your work.
