Metaphysical and Healing Properties of Tanzanite

Tanzanite has become one of the most coveted gemstones in the world since its relatively recent discovery in 1967. It's only been found in Africa thus far near Tanzania from which the stone's name is derived.

Tanzanite's deeply rich blue to violet color range evokes images of royal crowns and robes of splendor. Some of the most beautiful stones are blue with a touch of purple, although the raw crystals may have a brownish red color.

It's trichoric which means that depending on lighting conditions, the stone can appear one of three different colors, blue, purple or reddish brown. This crystal is a form of the mineral zoisite, so it will share some of the same properties as mentioned below.

Being a throat chakra and third-eye stone, it's used for physical throat conditions and headaches. It can help clear mental and emotional blockages of communication, especially those related to sharing one's beliefs with others.

Since it's also a crown chakra stone along with the other two chakras, this stone's healing properties encompass the entire head including disorders of the eyes and ears. It's also used for skin and spinal problems.

Tanzanite being a form of zoisite shares this mineral's spiritual properties. Zoisite has the ability to break down negative energy and change it into positive. It's used to inspire action and overcome procrastination. It also is a psychic stone and one of communication albeit on a mental level.

Because of the blue and purple range of this stone, it can be used with the throat, third-eye, and crown chakras which are associated with blue, indigo/purple, and purple/white respectively. Thus it's a stone of communication and spirituality.

Tanzanite is especially useful in communicating with the spiritual world and relating visions received clearly. It also helps the user contact beings from other worlds and planes. Place tanzanite on the third eye and meditate on it to stimulate this psychic center. A gem elixir made from this stone may be especially powerful in other-worldly communication if used over several days or weeks.

Used near the crown chakra, it will help in communicating on a higher spiritual level to aid in understanding universal order.
